Major refurbishment works to the second floor with additional works to the ground and first floors. The second floor had remained in a state of disrepair for over 20 years and required considerable attention to transform the building into modern day teaching facilities.
It was paramount to the school and client that the original features of the school were retained and restored where possible. This required specialist contractors to undertake work to restore 238 original sash windows, rough cast render to match original walls and restoring existing timber beading.
Considerable structural timber and steel works were undertaken during the course of the project, upon discovering original roof beams and concrete lintels were defective and required strengthening.
The works provided the school with 6 new classrooms, music rooms, teaching facilities, staffroom, toilets and a DDA compliant lift enabling further schooling placements within the local community.
