Ryearch is a key sponsor of Building Plymouth, a project led by Plymouth City Council which aims to link people with career opportunities in the local construction sector, to help fill the expected 10,000 construction jobs needed by 2020. To help get the initiative off the ground, Ryearch attendBuilding Plymouth Event May 16ed Building Plymouth meetings and events to plan and promote the scheme – particularly the element around supporting local people to gain construction skills and experience. Ryearch was then instrumental in developing a range of construction focused work experience and taster sessions for individuals nominated by the Royal Marines Charity, the Princes Trust and the Shekinah Mission. These initial sessions in May/June 2016 ranged from one-day to week-long placements, enabling candidates to get skills and experience in both civil engineering and general construction projects.  Opportunities to learn specific trades, such as brick laying and carpentry were provided by Ryearch, as well as office based support positions. Ryearch has gone on to employ a long-term unemployed candidate from the Building Plymouth scheme (following work experience placement with us), and adopted Eggbuckland Community College as part of Building Plymouth’s Adopt a School initiative.
