One of Ryearch’s housing projects was shortlisted at the LABC South West Building Excellence Awards 2018, for the Best social or affordable new housing development category. Located off Parsonage Road in Newton Ferrers, our £2.4M development was completed in May 2017, providing much needed sustainable housing for the local community. The 16 home scheme was named Peter’s Field by the local community, and comprises seven shared ownership properties, eight rented houses and a private dwelling The annual LABC awards seeks to recognise quality in all types of building project across several regions, and celebrates achievements in the construction industry in terms of excellent buildings, outstanding companies, and partnerships and individuals that go the extra mile.  Each project is evaluated on the following aspects:
  • High levels of compliance with building regulations
  • Effective working relationships with LABC surveyors
  • Outstanding craftsmanship
  • Technical innovation
  • Sustainability and high performance
  • Ability to solve technical problems with creative solutions
  • Use of innovative products and the skills to overcome difficult site conditions
The Best social or affordable new housing development category recognises “..developments of any scale by organisations developing new social or affordable homes.”  The specific criteria for this award included:
  • Involvement of the community
  • Affordability of maintenance
  • Response to site constraints
  • External appearance and internal planning
  • Layout grouping and landscaping
  • Attention to safety, security and accessibility
