Derriford Transport Scheme

Delivery of three significant transport improvement schemes to the road infrastructure in north Plymouth.

Phase 3 – Derriford Transport Scheme

These major junction improvements works are taking place at Derriford Roundabout and on one of Plymouth’s main artery roads.  The scheme will aid traffic flow, ease congestion and improve access into Derriford Hospital and Plymouth’s northern corridor.

Works include excavations, drainage, attenuation tanks, footpaths, cycle tracks, traffic lights and LED street lighting.  Ryearch has ensured service co-ordination with all utility providers (cable, gas, water, phone and fibre-optics).

Ryearch’s in-house Civil Engineering Team has offered a flexible service by extending the night work hours, to enable the scheme to finish ahead of schedule.

Opportunities for value engineering are being identified whilst working on the scheme, e.g. re-using an enormous concrete structure found in the ground, by breaking it up and recycling as backfill.  All adaptions have been approved following liaison with the client.

The contract is progressing well, all targets being met.
